Rungs Labs

Manifesto

Rungs Labs. Draft, September 2026.

What we are building

Apps that teach people how to start something worth doing, and then take them to where it is worth doing it. First we teach. Then we go.

This is not a fitness app. It does not count steps, calories or streaks. The competitor is not a tracker. It is a folder of saved Instagram posts and a document of places, neither of which anyone ever acts on.

What we believe

Fitness is a side effect of having a good time. Nobody sustains a habit on discipline. They find a game, get hooked, and the fitness happens on the way. If someone needs willpower to stay with us, we designed it badly.

Aesthetic is what leads to spiritual and social experience. Cycling to somewhere beautiful, driving a route worth driving, walking into a retreat in the hills: these are not tourism. Tourism is consumption. This is participation, and participation is what changes people.

How every app works

Every app is the same three things with a different guide: skills and programs, a bot that answers your questions, and your place in the guidance.

We give guidance. We do not measure. We never check that you can hold a handstand, and we do not want to. What we keep is where you are in the material, which is a bookmark, not a measurement.

A skill is a named outcome with ordered rungs and an end. The first rung of every skill is free, and it is a real win, not a teaser. Everything above it is paid, and the paywall comes right after a success, when you want the next thing. It never comes after work you have already done.

Where it goes

We start with five: calisthenics, running, cycling, swimming, and meditation through yoga. That is strength, endurance and the mind, taught separately first, because a long ride, a hike or a marathon draws on all three at once.

Then we take you out to use them together: motor travel, hiking, cycling, marathons, swimming circuits. Your passport is places, not skills. What you did is the place you went.

What we are not building

What we owe you

The progressions have to be correct. Content people follow with their bodies is the one place there is no margin for being approximately right. And the material has to keep growing, because you are paying for access to knowledge, and that is worth renewing only as long as there is more of it.

We will never sell your attention back to you, and we will not let affiliate revenue decide what we recommend.
